I have been working as a psychotherapist for the last six years and have been involved in the mental health field for more than ten years. My post graduate training and employment took place in a community mental health center, school setting, and in private practice, allowing me to work with a broad age range, cultural and religious differences. This diverse client population has broadened my perspective, allowing my cultural awareness and sensitivity to strengthen. I worked extensively with individuals coping with depression, anxiety, anger, chronic pain/health issues, relationship problems, grief and loss, self-esteem issues, trauma, difficult adolescents, peer difficulties, bullying and life transitions.

In addition to my clinical work, my career path also crossed over into the field of education working with adolescents and their families at a special education middle and high school. This opportunity facilitated my gaining knowledge and experience of working in the classroom, providing intensive one-to-one instruction and fulfilling an administrative role, as well as obtaining a thorough understanding of the Individual Education Program (IEP) process.

It is my goal to create a safe and supportive atmosphere to process thoughts, feelings and promote positive change. Our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are today, but we can start making the changes for who we want to become tomorrow. This will be facilitated through short-term therapy or longer term therapy, depending on the needs of the client. Short-term therapy is used to address specific problems, focused on finding solutions. Deeper therapy will be used to work through negative patterns, core beliefs and behaviors that may be undermining your relationships.
Therapy can help you gain insight and awareness of the conscious and unconscious thoughts, feelings, and reactions that repeatedly play out in your life and relationships. Together we will identify patterns, beliefs, and behaviors that are keeping you from accepting, embracing, and being who you want to be.
Working with adolescents is a specialty of mine, as I am familiar with their social, emotional and behavioral struggles as a result of my work in the school system. This work demanded a high degree of sensitivity, acceptance, flexibility, and above all, patience. I create an environment where teens feel heard, included and respected.
With all my clients, teens or adults, I bring forth their strengths, increasing self-awareness so they are better able to make healthy choices.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC52307) with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. I received my Bachelors in Psychology from UCLA and my Masters in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University.
